Te Ara Kahikatea Shared Pathway

Downer Hastings

In May 2020 Topline was engaged by Downer Hastings to construct 400m of pathway to complement Hastings District Council’s Te Ara Kahikatea roading project.

The 400m long, 2.5m wide pathway was created using 100mm of compacted basecourse and 100mm of concrete. The site was cleared of existing trees which were preserved for replanting, and soil and gravel excavated. To reduce construction waste, suitable excavated material was stockpiled for reuse as part of construction works. All other excavated material was transported to our yard for recycling.

The work was completed next to a waterway of cultural significance. Erosion control and protection measures were used to minimise the impact of our work on the surrounding environment with particular care taken around the waterway. Once the pathway was complete the surrounding area was landscaped using topsoil, and the site was grassed and planted areas barked.

Through the skill and dedication of the Topline team we exceeded the client’s expectations completing the four week project and producing a quality finished product in two weeks.
